Network Inequality and Fairness Group

Computational Social Science Research

Mauritz Cartier van Dissel

I am Mauritz and I’m a PhD student at the Complexity Science Hub since April 2023. I am currently analyzing the emergence of bias in multi-attributed networks and the related possible mitigation techniques. I am also part of the EU-funded MAMMOth project, which aims to promote multi-dimensional fairness in AI systems.

Before, I pursued my Bachelor’s and my Master’s in mathematics at the University of Trento, Italy. For my master’s thesis, I worked in collaboration with the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics to develop two models for the online prediction of multivariate electricity loads.

My current research interests lie in the application of mathematics to the analysis of network data, with a particular interest in the analysis of complex systems in the field of computational social sciences.
