Network Inequality and Fairness Group

Computational Social Science Research

Paula Nauta

I’m currently a PhD researcher at the Computational Social Science lab at the Technical University of Graz, also working with the Network Inequality group at the Complexity Science Hub in Vienna, under the direction of Fariba Karimi.

After earning a B.A. in Psychology and Information and Communication Science from the University of Hildesheim in Germany, my interest in the intersection of technology and society led me to complete an M.Sc. in Computational Social Systems at the University of Graz. My master’s research explored how socio-demographic attributes of researchers in AI & ML are related to the values in their publications through network science methods.

Within my PhD at the Technical University of Graz, my upcoming research will focus on parenthood in academia. Alongside my teaching duties in the Computational Social Science program, I aim to explore strategies that bridge the gender productivity gap and build support networks for fair participation in academia.
